Brainstorm Creative Resources is supporting a national media organization that is looking to engage a Digital Product Designer in a 100% remote, full-time (40 hours/week) temporary position that may also offer an opportunity to transition into a full-time, salaried role. We welcome applications from individuals who are only interested in the contingent role, as well as those who would ideally like to be in a full-time position.  

This opportunity is open to qualified applicants living anywhere in the United States. The committment will require consistent availability to work 40 hours/week each week during east coast business hours. We do not expect there to be any overtime hours. 

We’re interested in hearing from talented professionals at all career levels, but early career professionals must have at least two years of ongoing experience working as a titled Product or UX/UI designer.

OVERVIEW: 
The Product Designer conceptualizes, designs, executes, and contributes to the branded look of this media organization's customer experience on websites, native apps and distributed platforms by producing high-quality designs that elevate customer satisfaction, trust, delight, while maintaining usability, accessibility, brand integrity standards. 

The purpose of this role is to design different products from concept to execution. The individual in the role will work in both the Discovery and Execution phases of the Product Design Lifecycle. Some conceptual and innovative, and others with a focus on tactical outcomes. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in multiple sub-specialties of design (Design Strategy, Research, Testing, UX, UI, Front-End, etc.)  and is a team player, with the ability to work with fellow designers, product managers, and stakeholders. 

The Product Designer translates insights and strategy into prototypes, clearly communicating their vision through concepts. They can confidently share their discoveries, design solutions, user testing and study results, influence stakeholders and create energy around an idea or an initiative. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Translate insights and strategy into prototypes, clearly communicating your vision through your concepts. 
• Share discoveries, design solutions, research, and testing results with stakeholders.
• Leverage a generative work style -- you can visualize and iterate at varying levels of fidelity.
• Fortify company design system; help increase design fidelity and decrease design churn by contributing to a thoughtful system. 
• Design responsively -- construct mobile-focused designs that are extended across screen sizes and devices through smart use of responsive and adaptive strategies and enable strong site performance. 
• Specify design for multiple platforms, including Web, native apps, and distributed platforms. 
• Develop, tests, and refine prototypes.
• Design, launch, and analyze user tests and research studies.  

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 
• BA degree or higher in product design, visual design, graphic design, UX design or related field.
• Minimum of two years in a product designer role, preferably in a news, publishing, or agency setting. 
• Online portfolio of professional UI and UX work.
• Ability to work effectively on a team that embraces agile principals and a lean design process.
• Understand how to translate enterprise design solutions across break points and/or key platforms (mobile, app, third-party); with a focus on responsive, mobile experiences.
• Fluency with standard design software and platforms (Figma, Miro, Adobe Suite, etc.).
• Experience with writing, executing and analyzing in-person or online user testing.
• Knowledge of and practical experience in working closely with Product Management teams; informing product direction, roadmaps, and sprint planning.
• Knowledge in key UX areas like information architecture, UI Design best practices, interaction design patterns, style guides and pattern libraries.
• Experience with a digital product & services company.

HOURS / LOCATION:

PAY RATE: 
Based on what we have learned during conversations with our client, Brainstorm Creative Resources is advertising a pay rate range of $50 - $65/hour. Given the full-time nature of this role, we believe it's both correct and useful to mention that these hourly rates are the basis for salaries ranging from $100K to $130K. Brainstorm Creative Resources pays competitively and actively encourages our employer clients to do the same. However, it is unlikely (but not impossible) that we will be able to pay less experienced applicants at the top of the stated salary range. More experienced applicants can expect that we will make a strong, evidentiary case to our client, to pay you at the top of the range. 

The actual rate and/or salary offered will be commensurate with experience and market norms. It will also be based on some or all of the following factors: credentials as detailed in your resume, your portfolio, interview experiences with Brainstorm Creative Resources and our client, and quality of reference providers and references provided.
