OVERVIEW

The Chief Power Engineer is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities related to the safe and efficient operation, maintenance of the Steam Plant Department in support of mill operations & outages.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sustain a strong commitment to safety, ensuring safety is kept at the forefront and no compromises are encountered which would potentially jeopardize the safety of individuals and/or equipment.Adhere to, and promote company safety and environmental policies.

  • Utilize all aspects of the safety program in support of world class safety.

  • Administer the maintenance program for the plant, associated auxiliary equipment, cogeneration turbine, fuel handling systems and other equipment in support of equipment reliability

  • Lead priority setting and planning to ensure efficient use of maintenance resources for all maintenance activities

  • Management of Mill water intake and supply

  • Responsible for managing black storage and reclaim operator to optimize boiler biomass feed

  • Support measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Department.

  • Manage expenditures in support of approved budget adherence.

  • Routinely monitor shift performance progress and communicate status updates to crews.

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and communicate customer feedback to crews.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified 1st Class or 2nd Class Power Engineer with commitment to progress towards 1st Class Power Engineer certification in an agreed period of time.

  • A solid technical understanding of steam and power production.

  • Good demonstration of leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal

  • Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and lead a crew

  • Strong trouble shooting, problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Proficient use of computers

Successful candidate will be required to submit a Certificate of Conduct from a local police agency or the RCMP before commencing employment.
