Description: Food & Nutrition Services at Kirby Medical Center is seeking a Food Service Tech to join our highly skilled culinary team in Monticello, IL. Shift : 20 hours per week, varied days Monday-Friday 3:30pm-6:45pm with weekend rotations working 6:00am-6:45pm.   Competitive hourly rate, bonus pay and shift differential pay.  As a part of the KMC Food & Nutrition team you will assist in all areas of the department associated with Patient, Retail, and Catering Services. The Food Service Tech is a vital part of the Food Service team at KMC.

Room Service Responsibilities and Expectations: Delivers patients meals ordered through the Room service computerized program, directly to the patients, ER Unit, or to other medical staff on the nursing units. Delivers patient meals to patient rooms and positions bedside table in front of or close to the patient while using superior customer service technique. Assists in obtaining meal preferences to improve standards of care. Responds to questions from patients and / or family members regarding meals and / or menu selection processes using scripting learned at formal training sessions.  Assists patients and / or family members with menu selections, as needed. Utilizes the Room Service Program computerized system to track patient status throughout the day.  Communicates with nursing about the status of the patients' meals, when necessary. Manages dish room completely and strips and cleans delivery carts and trays. Provides clean / sanitary service ware via the operation of the dish machine and 3-compartment sink for Apple a Day Café, prep dishes, and room service in times when not preparing a patient meal or answering room service calls. Maintains proper levels of supplies and stocks to support each station in the production of meals. Helps to cover absences in the Café as needed, assists in cold food prep, and stocking of Café items.

Qualifications: 

• Computer literacy & excellent customer service skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds using safe body mechanics.
• Sanitation Certificate preferred.  
• Flexibility in hours needed.
