MISMO, an award-winning Standards Development Organization serving the U.S. mortgage industry and an independently managed subsidiary of Mortgage Bankers Association, seeks a dynamic and influential President to serve as its chief executive. This is an exceptional opportunity to architect the future of the mortgage ecosystem by championing the power of standards.
As President, you will spearhead a $6 million operation, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. Your mission will be to ignite progress across the mortgage lifecycle by leading the development, promotion, and adoption of critical standards, tools, and other impactful resources. This demands a strategic and execution-oriented leader capable of:
- Envisioning and Executing Bold Strategies: You will guide the development and implementation of a forward-thinking strategic plan, ensuring MISMO not only meets its goals but consistently pushes the boundaries of what's possible in the industry.
- Driving Innovation and Adaptation: You will foster a culture of innovation within the organization and the standards development process, ensuring MISMO remains a catalyst for cutting-edge solutions.
- Building a Sustainable and Thriving Organization: You will be accountable for the MISMO’s financial health, strengthening its capacity through strategic revenue generation and diversified funding streams to ensure long-term viability and impact.
- Catalyzing Industry-Wide Adoption: You will serve as a recognized thought leader and compelling advocate for the value of standards, articulating their crucial role in enhancing quality, safety, efficiency, and innovation across the mortgage sector.
- Cultivating Powerful Partnerships: You will engage and build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the mortgage ecosystem, including executives at lending institutions, service providers, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and member organizations.

Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in related field with a minimum of 20 years of relevant executive level leadership experience in mortgage, government, or technology industry with a proven record of success in revenue generation, marketing, and sales.
- A relevant graduate degree may be used to offset some of the direct work experience requirements.
- Minimum of 20 years of senior leadership experience in the mortgage industry, Requires a blend of executive management, organizational leadership, communications/marketing, product development, customer relations, and technology expertise.
- Experience working with and reporting to a Board of Directors is essential.
- Must have an established network of senior leadership contacts within the mortgage industry.
- Extensive knowledge of mortgage industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of product development, sales, and marketing processes.
Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence a wide variety of internal and external audiences at all levels.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with and present to a Board of Directors.
- Ability to quickly get up to speed on new issues across a wide range of industry business, technology, and policy topics.

- Deep understanding of financial markets, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards.
