Position Summary

The HDD Locator is responsible for locating the directional drills path for installation of innerduct for underground fiber optic construction. This role also works with other crews assisting with the on-site installation of both underground and aerial fiber optic cable.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with on-site installation of underground fiber optic cables
• Pothole existing utilities, when needed  
• Prepare entry and exit pits
• Assist “tie-ins” on conduit
• Complete daily drill logs  
• Inspect vehicles and equipment prior to use, including checking fluid levels and tire pressure to ensure safe and proper operation
• Drive trucks and equipment to job sites
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Qualifications

·         High School diploma or equivalent required

·         Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable, Class A CDL preferred

·         Ability to locate and steer drill head for drill rig operator

·         At least 2-years of HDD locating experience  

·         Knowledge in F-2, F-5 and Falcon Series Locating Equipment  

·         Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
