THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NEW JERSEY HOUSING AND MORTGAGE FINANCE AGENCY INVITES APPLICATIONS FROM QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR THE FOLLOWING:

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, underwrite loans originated through the HMFA loan programs including modifications; track condominium
projects; review submitted appeal requests prior to final management approval; train lenders and Agency personnel on HMFA
procedures; respond to inquiries regarding the underwriting process; enter loans on the computer. Perform related duties as
required.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

1. Underwrite loans originated through the HMFA loan programs including modifications according to Policy and
Procedure Guide and process documents.
 

2. Determine applicant eligibility and credit worthiness based on analysis of income tax returns and credit reports.
 

3. Complete tax compliance for each loan underwritten according to federal guidelines.
 

4. Work with Agency staff, ensuring compliance with guidelines and applicable regulations.
 

5. Train lenders and Agency personnel on HMFA policies and procedures.
 

6. Train underwriting and processing staff on HMFA underwriting and processing procedures for each individual program.
 

7. Respond to inquiries regarding the underwriting process.
 

8. Review submitted appeal requests prior to final management approval.
 

9. Administer tracking system for loans submitted for purchases with open underwriting conditions.
 

10. Provide status reports to management, as often as required but at a minimum, weekly.
 

11. Perform related duties as required.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education / Experience:

Two (2) year college degree; five (5) years of business experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Skills:

- Knowledge of loan origination systems.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Knowledge of FHLMC/FNMA/FHA Government underwriting and HMFA guidelines.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word.
- Through knowledge of office management procedures and their application to specific situations.
- Excellent organizational skills such as planning, goal setting, and prioritizing.
- Ability to accomplish multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt to changing procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to listen actively.
- Ability to effectively train others on HMFA program guidelines.
- Ability to accurately proofread own work and the work of others.
- Ability to analyze statistical data, determine risk level and draw conclusions.
- Ability to accurately enter and retrieve computer data.
- Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere in an appropriate manner of behavior that ensures cooperation and effective communication with customers, clients, peers and management.

Certificates & Licenses Required: A valid driver's license in the State in which the person resides is required only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
