THE JOB

We are currently hiring a Shipyard Project Planner to join our Vancouver, WA team. This position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing shipyard maintenance and repair activities to ensure efficient and timely execution of fleet maintenance, repairs, and capital projects. The Shipyard Project Planner serves as a key link between shipyard operations, engineering, and maintenance teams, leveraging Helm CONNECT to enhance scheduling accuracy, resource allocation, and project forecasting. This role will act as liaison between the Shipyard Services Department and its internal customers, external customers, and other stakeholders and will be integral to the company’s transition from manual scheduling tools to modern, data-driven maintenance planning. Other responsibilities include:

  •  Develops and maintains detailed project schedules for maintenance, repairs, lifecycle upgrades, regulatory inspections, and other shipyard activities using Helm CONNECT.

  • Works closely with shipyard leadership, engineering, and operations to align maintenance planning with strategic priorities.

  • Analyzes data and trends to improve planning accuracy and identify areas for efficiency gains,

  • Provides forward-looking project schedules to support asset availability and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborates with engineering, maintenance, and operational teams to allocate resources effectively.

  •  Tracks and maintains regulatory documentation (e.g., USCG certifications) to ensure compliance with maritime regulations.

  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance planning processes.

  • Responsible for regular and prompt attendance as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

THE BENEFITS & PAY

  • Position Salary Range: $67,720.00 - $91,622.00 (depending on experience and qualifications)

THE CATCH

  • High school education or equivalent and a minimum of three years’ experience in project planning, scheduling, or maintenance coordination, preferably in a maritime or shipyard environment.

  • Proficiency in Helm CONNECT (or similar maintenance management systems) and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar scheduling tools is preferred.

  • Communication skills necessary to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships, influence change, resolve problems, and interact with vendors and personnel at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate insights into improved scheduling and resource planning.

  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and project management skills with the ability to self-direct and prioritize goals and objectives.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Work Identification Credential (TWIC) card from the Department of Homeland Security.

  • Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record in order to operate company owned vehicles.
