Get to Know This Role
The Co-Packing Operations Supervisor leads Sierra Nevada's co-pack operations team which includes batch blending, packaging, and digital can printing lines. This leadership role requires a focus on cross-functional training. There will be an emphasis on producing a high-quality product and service in all areas. Supervisors will be expected to collaborate well with other leaders throughout the organization. Responsibilities will vary greatly between department supervision and leadership, technical expertise, quality assurance, and project oversight using our company values and annual goals as a guide.

What You Will Do
  • In collaboration with the Co-Packing Operations Manager, develop and lead the Co-Packing department and its staff to align with and achieve company and departmental goals and KPI improvement efforts.
  • Possess an understanding of, and commitment to Food Safety standards and Manufacturing industry best practices
  • Promote and participate in execution of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure a high level of personnel safety; Ensure safety policies and procedures are being followed and implement projects to improve safety within the department as warranted.
  • Collaborate with leaders and production staff, oversee all aspects of the Co-Packing Operations from incoming raw materials to delivering finished liquid and packaged product.
  • Work closely with Quality, Packaging, Brewing, Innovation, Graphics, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Production Schedulers to coordinate efforts in meeting brewery production demands and quality standards.
  • Ensure all production equipment and areas are maintained, optimized, kept clean and organized and in compliance with GMPs; lead the department 5S program.
  • Verify Co-Packing staff are adequately trained to operate efficiently and safely in their areas in accordance with Sierra Nevada Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and quality standards.
  • Facilitate problem solving activities to determine root cause and close the loop on issues that impact the state of the business.
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule, and the individual may need to work non-standard hours.

  • This role is responsible for production and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) System as defined in the SQF Code. There will be Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety and Food Security Training as required by Local, State, Federal and SNBC policies. All duties will be completed in a manner that is consistent with all aspects of Company Safety Rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF). Employees shall report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or
  • or any combination of experience and education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. required
  • 3 years progressive experience in manufacturing, engineering, and/or beverage production required
  • 1 year progressive supervisory experience required
  • Ability to collaborate with functional counterparts within the organization at the earliest stages of planning and development to meet plant objectives
  • High level understanding plant operations from raw material receiving to finished goods warehousing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive and proprietary information
  • Ability to negotiate with stakeholders to promote or sell ideas or concepts
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data to make recommendations
  • High level of professional competence and ethical integrity
  • Demonstrated leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills with the ability to motivate team members and assess and develop employee skills
  • Excellent project management, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to balance and prioritize production and maintenance needs
  • Extensive knowledge of industry compliance standards: including but not limited to OSHA and safety standards, Government regulatory programs, such as FDA
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • High level understanding of GMPs, CIP/sterilization operations, water chemistry and processing, brewery microbiology, Quality systems, sensory science, packaging operations, utilities, etc.
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to lead decision-making processes in a team environment
  • A strong understanding of process controls
  • Working knowledge of Laboratory Operations and Quality Control procedures
  • Microsoft Office Skills, particularly Excel spreadsheets, and power BI reporting
  • Experience with brewery automation systems
Additional Requirements to Consider Before Applying
  • You must be at least 21 years of age to perform the duties of this position for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
  • Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment, post offer background check.
  • Candidate must be able to work 2nd shift (1 PM - 9:30 PM)
