Position: Summer Engineering Internship- Full Time

Travel: yes, depending on site locations (will be assigned to a site for the summer)

Anticipated Start Date: Monday 6/2/2025

Expected End Date: Friday 8/8/2025 

We are currently looking for Interns pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering to join our Wagman Heavy Civil team. Reporting to direct field supervision, the Intern will be assigned various tasks from management and work with the engineering team on the assigned project. The ideal candidate should be able to take and follow instructions as well as be able to work independently and communicate effectively. This position works alongside the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction projects and ensures all plans move forward to meet projected deadlines in a safe manner. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction. 

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

The following essential functions will be performed under the general direction of managers in various departments of the company:

Will support our experienced engineering team with their civil construction duties and shadow their day-to-day actions that may include, but not limited to:

  • ·       Assist in preparing work plans.
  • ·       Track and record field production quantities
  • ·       Assist with quantity takeoffs for concrete and earthwork operations (PA & VA)
  • ·       Coordinating subcontractor work
  • ·       Procuring materials and equipment for upcoming work and track quantities
  • ·       Perform schedule updates and generating report updates of project progress
  • ·       Perform document control tracking and processing
  • ·       Will perform takeoffs.
  • ·       Investigating problems and/or reported incidents: identifying and recommending solutions/ alternatives as appropriate
  • ·       Assist in the preparation of detailed requisitions for material purchase, services, and subcontracts
  • Provides interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision
  • Review shop drawings, draft RFIs, and assist with submittals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.  
  • Frequent standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift. 
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
  • Acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing required.
  • Must have the ability to work on uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather
