We are currently looking for a Diesel Mechanic Intern to join our Heavy Civil team in our York, PA facilities. This is a summer position that will support our Field Service Center and regional projects.

Core competencies include design-build, infrastructure, marine construction, modified concrete, grooving and grinding, and geotechnical construction services. 

This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Basic Requirements: 

  • Valid Driver's license
  • Experience in a mechanic shop, mechanical schooling, or exposure to heavy equipment in the construction industry preferred.
  • Enrolled in a Technical/ Trade School for Diesel Technology

Essential Functions:

  • Test repaired equipment to insure operating efficiency.   
  • Inspecting and lubricating heavy construction equipment in shops and at construction job sites.
  • Service equipment as requested by the lead mechanic.
  • Serve as parts runner for field service center.
  • Take part in small welding projects for parts or equipment.
  • Make preventative maintenance checks and inspections.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Required to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands, and requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and/or steps on equipment to access areas to be repaired.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl.
  • Must be able to work in dirty, greasy, noisy, cold, hot and humid working conditions.
