SUMMARY:

MISMO (Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization) is seeking an experienced communications and marketing professional to effectively promote the brand and value of the organization to the entire mortgage industry resulting in widespread adoption of its standards and products.  The position will coordinate all communications, marketing and public relations activities. As a 501(C)(6) subsidiary of the Mortgage Bankers Association, the position is accountable to the MISMO Executive Director and works cross-functionally within MBA to execute on deliverables. The incumbent should possess both product marketing and public affairs skills, with experience in brand development and visibility, paid and earned media strategies, and multi-channel marketing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops MISMO’s comprehensive brand and communications strategy for enhancing the visibility and promoting the value proposition of MISMO to ensure the widespread adoption of its standards and products.
  2. Crafts brand attributes, supporting facts and actions, and identifies potential barriers in order to clearly articulate MISMO’s value proposition to target audiences.
  3. Identify third party allies, key stakeholders and industry spokespeople to reinforce MISMO’s value proposition.
  4. Proactively and creatively pitch MISMO messaging and story angles to key media with measurable results.
  5. Serves as a MISMO spokesperson and educates reporters on the wide variety of issues facing the organization.
  6. Drafts and delivers ongoing MISMO member communications keeping key stakeholders apprised of important initiatives and activities.
  7. Implements and advances MISMO’s social media presence to promote activities, policies, conferences, and other products and services.
  8. Develops and executes creative marketing plans for MISMO’s products, events, programs and services. Produce both digital and print marketing collateral with eye towards results and brand visibility.
  9. Works cross-functionally with MBA departments supporting MISMO activities such as meetings and conventions, policy, and research.
  10. Works proactively with in-house or contracted design team to deliver branded material and designed assets.
  11. Manage MISMO’s content platforms: social media, web site, content communities.
  12. Monitor and assess marketing metrics throughout each campaign cycle and make necessary adjustments to put MISMO in the best position to meet or exceed stated revenue goals. Develop marketing analysis reports to determine campaign effectiveness.
  13. Manage projects to meet stated deadlines and budgets.
  14. Report results and recommendations to MISMO Board and senior leaders

SPECIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, marketing, or Liberal Arts with at least 10 years’ experience at an ad agency or in‑house communications department. Strong written, oral communications and organizational skills are essential. Requires proven analytical, research and project management capabilities. Must have strong project management skills, be a fluent writer with strong creative skills and have keen understanding of digital campaign analysis.  Ability to work well with others and provide leadership, effective account management and problem-solving skills. Able to undertake relatively complex management and substantive tasks within the functional area with minimal supervision. Strong creative skills and computer skills are required.  Experience in managing budgets required.  Experience in membership marketing for associations or financial services a plus.
