About the team

The People team plays an integral role in building our organisational culture, ensuring we are focused on outstanding customer service.  They provide practical and commercial solutions to all things people related - helping to identify the right people; develop the right capability; demonstrate the right behaviours; and deliver the right outcomes.  In delivering customer outcomes the Airport has a very collaborative approach and there is a need to work cross functionally to consider multiple options and perspectives.

About the role

As the Senior HR Business Partner, your primary responsibility is to collaborate with leaders across various business portfolios to develop and implement effective people strategies. This pivotal role plays a critical part in the development of the business, ensuring that the key components of the People Strategy align seamlessly with the overarching Corporate Strategy. Working closely with leaders throughout the organisation, you will focus on enhancing engagement and leadership capability through coaching and proactive initiatives. Embracing a generalist approach, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the business, providing invaluable insights and guidance.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to

  • Partner with the Head of People and Performance to drive People outcomes including organisational design, leadership capability, talent management, enhancing employee engagement, lifting capability and performance management 
  • Coach and support the leaders to ensure people cyclical activities are delivered in a timely and effective manner 
  • Manage end to end management of ER matters 
  • Lead the design and project manage key people initiatives with a continuous focus on process improvement and innovation 
  • Track and analyse data to provide meaningful insights to Leaders and broader business 
  • Develop leadership capability by coaching People Leaders and sharing feedback that fosters continual growth and development 
  • Understand, interpret and apply relevant legislative instruments, including the Sydney Airport Enterprise Agreement and current company policies 
  • Build strong collaborative working relationships with client groups fostering an open, collaborative and consultative communication style 
  • Participate in cross functional working groups sharing people insights and data, and taking responsibility for delivering assigned activities

About you

The ideal candidate for this role should hold tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related business discipline, coupled with extensive experience in a Senior HR position within a fast-paced commercial environment. They must demonstrate a proven track record of achievement and possess experience in supporting diverse workforces, including managing enterprise agreements.

With a pragmatic and human-centered approach, they should exhibit a commercial mindset, capable of balancing tactical service delivery with strategic thinking. Technical knowledge of the Australian Employee Relations and Industrial landscape is essential, alongside experience in fostering cross-functional collaboration and managing competing priorities effectively.

Exceptional communication skills are a must, enabling the candidate to influence at a senior level and articulate complex concepts compellingly. They should demonstrate resilience and tenacity, leading from the front while remaining adaptable to the dynamic nature of the business, and have the ability to autonomously drive initiatives for enhancing the customer or stakeholder experience.
