Education Requirement:
High school graduate or G.E.D required with basic reading and writing skills.
Experience Requirement:
A minimum of three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment including hydraulic boom (rough terrain) and friction truck and/or lattice boom crawler (i.e., 18-ton to 100-ton capacity). Prefer experience in pile driving, concrete pouring, clamming and hook work (lifting); also, prefer experience in excavating and grading work using backhoes and loaders.

We are currently looking for a Crane Operator to join our Geotechnical team.  The Geotechnical Construction Services group provides comprehensive services for projects requiring foundations and earth retention systems.

The ideal candidate is an motivated and dependable individual. This individual must have the ability to communicate and work well with others. Qualified candidates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Travel is a requirement of this position as work is performed in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  Wagman offers excellent pay, benefits and the opportunity for advancement.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manipulate or depress hand and/or foot controls including pedals, levers and buttons to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal and/or hand signal instructions.
  • Observe load hookup and determine safety of load.
  • Direct the placing of cribbing for outrigger to prevent capsizing.
  • Perform preventative maintenance – clean, lubricate and maintain crane and hoisting mechanism.
  • Inspect crane daily for defective parts and record date and malfunction in a log.
  • Read and interpret the load charts to determine the safe operating capacity.
  • Direct the set up and dismantling of the crane
  • Must also be able to drive pile.
