ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Writes script, contests and interview questions

  • Collaborate with producers and co-hosts to develop and execute well-structured, dynamic show rundowns

  •  Operate professional radio broadcasting equipment, including digital control boards, microphones, phone systems, and remote broadcast technology (Comrex, VoxPro, WideOrbit, NexGen, or similar).

  • Prepares and creates a topical show by gathering information from wire copy, periodicals, computer and television

  •  Adhere to all FCC regulations and company policies regarding content, advertising disclosures, and ethical broadcasting standards.

  • Reads news flash to keep audience informed of relevant news

  • Record interviews of relevant guests and edits interviews

  • Interviews guest, and moderates panel or discussion show to entertain audience

  • Answers phone lines and interviews members of listening audience who telephone musical requests. Airs contests according to the specifications of the program director

  • Able to blog about artist and topics from your show

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Present a positive and professional attitude and presence at all station events

  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, and in particular the ability to 
    communicate around multiple creative projects in a time-sensitive manner

  • Strong attention to detail and solid organizational and project management skills

  • Be able flexible with work hours/duties

  • Able to work independently with little supervision

  • Must be open and responsive to coaching

  • Working knowledge of Windows, Outlook, Word, and social media platforms

  • Position requires a deep and comprehensive knowledge of local sports teams, personalities and story-lines. 

  • Personal and professional connections to those teams is preferred.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Must have at least 2 years on-air experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.
