**SALARY RANGE: $140,000.00 to $180,000.00**

The VP of Cross-Brand Content is an expert at using data and insights to push the business forward. This role requires a keen ability to interpret audience trends and employ them directly into content strategies.

This position requires excellent news judgment, a passion for covering culture, and a record of being both proactive and adaptive when news is trending. They will be responsible for driving views through volume and speed and will help build new cross-divisional and departmental workflows, as well as develop plans for traffic growth. 

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the digital media landscape, brings energy and sophisticated ideas to their work, and thinks expansively and creatively about content and the best ways to deliver it. They must always employ a collaborative and welcoming approach to communication with all teams within the Content and Data departments.  

The VP, Cross-Brand Content will work closely with the VP of Editorial Content to build a cohesive, comprehensive brand voice for each of iOne’s digital properties. This person must also be an excellent people manager with proven experience in developing and nurturing diverse talent with different levels of skill and experience.  The role reports to the SVP of Content.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and lead a best-in-class ‘cross-brand’ team, which will work across all brands in the iOne editorial, social, and video portfolio, to grow traffic and improve ranking across search engines, referring domains, and other engagement-boosting platforms 
  • Manage and oversee the Trending News Desk to ensure consistent coverage of trending news across iOne’s universe 
  • Work closely with editorial leadership, including site and platform leads, to ensure a cohesive brand voice is present in all content 
  • Work with Content leadership on an annual traffic model for the fiscal year, based on market trends and agreed-upon growth strategies with edit and product leads 
  • Work with SVP of Content and Product to actively interpret data reports to help drive the content and traffic growth strategy for iOne’s portfolio of brands  
  • Effectively communicate with all Content, Data, and Product leads through impactful meetings, brainstorms, and digital communication avenues 
  • Create, develop, and execute viewer and engagement growth plans 
  • Implement cutting-edge retention and growth marketing techniques, including campaigns, push notifications, contests, personalized newsletters, and loyalty programs to boost long-term engagement. 
  • Work with Content Leadership on an internal marketing and communication strategy, collaborating with all national and local editorial teams to promote and premiere content effectively across all Urban One brands 
  • Work with iOne and Radio One Content leadership to leverage internal talent and resources 
  • Utilize a range of tools and analytics platforms to monitor, analyze, and report on performance metrics across sites, newsletters, and other platforms 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and direct a team to include but not limited to:
    • Provide regular constructive feedback
    • Resolve issues/conflicts with diplomacy in a timely manner
    • Provide ongoing guidance and support for growth and development
    • Deploy effective coaching skills
    • Practical understanding of anti-harassment and discrimination laws 
    • Ability to effectively administer performance reviews, and corrective action plans as appropriate.
    • Ensure team (s) attend mandatory department and/or mandatory company training (s) as required.
  • Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory trainings and adheres to related course deadlines

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS:

  • This role is hyper-focused on growing traffic (both UVs and PVs) across our national brands through a volume and trending-based approach to content   
  • An ability to balance high output with collaboration with other department leads (Editorial, Video, Social, and Local/Reach) and their respective goals. Together, these divisions will create a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to Content that effectively balances quality and quantity  
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a strong orientation toward data-driven decision-making 
  • Must be able to proactively lead a team to measurable success, with KPIs determined by the SVP of Content 
  • Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills 
  • Must be inherently flexible and a team player  
  • Be able to travel for work when needed.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA or BFA preferred 
  • 12 years’ experience in digital content development. 
  • 7 years experience leading a team

**SALARY RANGE: $140,000.00 to $180,000.00**
