ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Stay informed on daily news stories (local, state, national, and international).

  • Provide live and recorded news coverage in both Spanish and English in a journalistically objective manner.

  • Research, write, edit, and deliver compelling newscasts under tight deadlines.

  • Develop and contribute story ideas relevant to the audience.

  • Work closely with producers and editors to adapt content for both broadcast and digital platforms.

  • Write, edit, and publish news articles for the station’s digital platforms.

  • Engage with listeners/viewers through social media and community events.

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to maintain consistent news delivery.

  • Work as part of an ensemble team for news discussions and talk shows.

  • Develop and maintain sources and contacts for news stories.

  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.

  • Excellent news writing, research, and editorial judgment.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

  • Knowledge of news production, newsroom operations, and broadcast journalism.

  • Experience with digital content creation, including WordPress and social media platforms.

  • A positive and professional attitude at all times, especially at station events.

  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if needed.

  • Submit to a criminal background check

  • Legal right to work in the United States

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Associates degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (preferred). At least 3 years of anchor or newsroom experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Experience working in a bilingual news environment is a plus.
