ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the planning, development, and execution of all major station events across the Houston market, including setting objectives, defining KPIs, and ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
  • Directly manage and grow non-traditional revenue (NTR) through collaboration with Integrated Marketing Specialists, leveraging client insights to develop custom event solutions that drive profitability.
  • Formulate and implement go-to-market strategies for NTR sponsorships and events, applying market analysis and audience engagement metrics to influence sales approaches.
  • Establish and monitor event budgets, including full ownership of profit and loss accountability, cost containment, and financial reporting tied to company performance standards.
  • Develop critical event timelines, oversee execution of client sponsorship deliverables, and negotiate contracts with vendors and venues to ensure optimal ROI and operational efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to all third-party vendors, ensuring service-level expectations, compliance with safety standards, and contractual obligations are met.
  • Serve as the senior event authority on-site, liaising with internal Sales, Programming, and Promotions leaders to ensure brand consistency and seamless event execution.
  • Lead all media relations for assigned events, including drafting press releases, managing media outreach strategies, and handling incoming press inquiries and accreditation.
  • Design and implement staffing models for event activations, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance oversight of temporary event support teams.
  • Participate in professional development workshops as requested to enhance leadership effectiveness and ensure industry best practices are applied to the role.
  • Proactively monitor industry trends and competitor benchmarks to inform strategic event planning and client engagement innovations.
  • Demonstrate effective team leadership by providing performance coaching, delivering timely and constructive feedback, and aligning staff development with departmental goals in accordance with HR policies.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Manage NTR Sales and Revenue Growth

  • Work with Sales teams to grow NTR Revenues

  • Understands and has a track record of success working in the national sales arena.

  • Ability to maximize revenues inventory management and serving customer needs.

  • Submit to a criminal background check

  • Legal right to work in the United States

  •  Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory training and adheres to related course deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and direct a team to include but not limited to:

·       Provide regular constructive feedback

·       Resolve issues/conflicts with diplomacy in a timely manner

·       Provide ongoing guidance and support for growth and development

·       Deploy effective coaching skills

·       Practical understanding of anti-harassment and discrimination laws

·       Ability to effectively administer performance reviews, and corrective action plans as appropriate.

·       Ensure team(s) attend mandatory department and/or mandatory company training(s) as required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate degree or equivalent.  Minimum 3 years relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
