We are currently looking for a Fixed Income Senior Bond Accountant for our Piper Sandler Financial Strategies group (PSFS). This position is open to location and may allow for hybrid work flexibility.

The Piper Sandler Financial Strategies group (PSFS) is passionate about understanding our clients’ needs and utilizing our intellectual capital to provide best-in-class advice and guidance for depositories. We draw upon our expertise in macroeconomics, strategy, and fixed income securities, along with comprehensive modeling capabilities of assets, liabilities, and interest rate derivatives to develop tailored strategies that holistically approach the balance sheet. We deliver portfolio analysis and advisory services, ideas, market research, and customized cash flow analysis to banks and credit unions of all sizes.

The senior bond accountant position is a unique opportunity to join a growing platform while assisting depository institutions with performing their monthly portfolio-related operational responsibilities. This role will provide a key resource for our clients as they strive to efficiently close their books each month.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Utilize portfolio accounting software to generate data & reporting that assists clients in creating ledger entries, completing call reports, performing safekeeping cash flow   reconciliations, monitoring pledging distributions, and analyzing historical & projected performance

  • Interact with various data sources to retrieve information required to generate monthly reporting packages

  • Serve as a key point of contact for bond-accounting related portfolio inquiry

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and accounting rules

Qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial services; analytic background strongly preferred

  • Experience in fixed income and knowledge of its various products

  • Experience in an accounting related field

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, math, financial engineering, or related field; CPA designation preferred

  • Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail

  • Self-starter with strong organizational and workflow management skills

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team

  • Strong Excel modelling skills a plus

  • FINRA Series 7, 63 & SIE licenses (or willingness to obtain within 120 days)

The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $115,000 - $135,000 per year. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be a part of the total compensation that is competitive with the market.
