This position will supervise multiple crews within Vegetation Management for and roadside maintenance. Supervisors in this role make decisions concerning appropriate use of equipment and are responsible for maintaining a safe work area. Principal duties common to the positions require a significant amount of administration, coordination, and support functions and are performed with discretion and independent judgment. Computer work, entering daily city works data, which include daily performance reports, is required. The field work includes but is not limited to site inspections, . Employees in this class lead and direct others in vegetation maintenance activities. Duties required utilize more advanced technical skills and more significant activities than positions classified to lower-level Crew Chief position(s).
This Public Works Operation Supervisor - Landscape and Grounds Maintenance position is located at: 4550 126th Avenue North Clearwater, Florida 33762; Work Schedule: The work hours may change depending on the time of year. During the Summer months the working hours are Monday-Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the winter (Shorter Daylight) hours are Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
What Will You Do
Supervise multiple crews within a unit to coordinate maintenance and operations for efficiency.
Oversee product selection and use, and ensuring safe use of equipment and chemicals.
Educate the public and answer work request by providing verbal and written information about nuisance vegetation.
Effectively communicate directives and instructions with team members.
Train personnel in the proper work and safety methods, as well as in the proper and safe use of supplies, materials, tools, equipment, chemicals, etc.
Perform related work as assigned or required.
What Do You Need
Experience: Vegetation management experience that includes lead worker, supervision, or supervisory training.
High school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED) and 3+ years of experience as described above; or
Completion of a 2-year vocational or technical trades school program with a diploma or certification in vegetation management and 1+ years of experience as described above.
Associate's degree and 1+ years experience as described above.
Bachelor's degree and some experiences as described above.
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation a a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) driving report. Once hired, the candidate must attain a State of Florida CDL "B" with a airbrake endorsement within 6 month of your hiring date.
Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
Possession a Florida Public Applicators License with the categories for Aquatic Pest Control and Right-of-Way.
Possession of a Florida Public Health Pest Control License or willing to able to obtain within 1 year of hire.
