Position Overview
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is responsible for providing accurate and reliable forecasts and warnings that serve our nation by protecting life and property and enhancing the economy. Constant improvements to operational models and forecast systems are required to integrate the latest user requirements, scientific research advances, and modeling developments. NOAA has substantial in-house capabilities to advance United States forecasting skill, but the effort is significantly more effective if the entire weather enterprise is engaged in partnership to achieve forecasting goals. The Earth Prediction Innovation Center (EPIC) will be the catalyst for community research and modeling advances that continually inform and accelerate advances in our Nation’s operational forecast modeling systems. The community is defined as every individual and organization from every sector, state, and nation (NOAA EPIC Strategic Plan). EPIC will enable the most accurate and reliable operational numerical forecast model in the world.
ERT is seeking experienced staff to support NOAA’s EPIC program and its mission to improve numeric weather prediction capabilities across the nation. Positions will include:
Required Skills
5+ years of progressively relevant technical experience in science and technical projects.
Education
BS/MS/PhD in Earth system science, meteorology, oceanography, or related discipline, or equivalent.
Location
This position supports work at NOAA’s Silver Spring or College Park, MD facility with some telework permitted.
