Position Summary

Responsible for developing and growing Carboline's sales in a specified region and/or market.  Works closely with various Directors of Sales for account and project development.


Minimum Requirements

4-year Business and/or Marketing degree, or 10-15 years’ experience.


Physical Requirements

This position requires minimal physical activity. May require lifting up to 50lbs on occasion. May require computer usage for an extended period of time – up to 8 hours in a day.  Occasional exposure to various chemicals. May require travel by car and air up to 50%, including nighttime.


Essential Functions

  • Responsible for conducting basic market research in assigned markets and identifying specific customer bases and purchasing history.
  • Develops and carries out market plans to enter and / or grow Carboline's share of assigned markets.
  • Assemble all necessary product packages, sales training, and support literature to launch an effective market program.
  • Identify all new products required for penetration and growth in assigned markets.
  • Participate on product design and development teams to bring a product from concept to market.
  • Develop long-range strategic plans for the markets of responsibility (3-year).
  • Works with Marketing Department to develop necessary support and promotional literature.
  • Makes joint sales calls with field reps to develop buying and non-buying accounts.
  • Provides major project coordination and follow-up in areas of responsibility.
  • Helps train representatives to effectively sell Carboline products in assigned markets.
  • Becomes involved in professional societies in the assigned markets.
  • Identifies owners, engineers, architectural and independent specification consultants who specify high performance coatings in region assigned.
  • Develops a consultative selling position with specifiers.
  • Generates specifications that place Carboline in a position of advantage for assigned region.
  • Networks with the specification community to develop quality, timely project leads.
  • Tracks projects with sales team.
  • Coordinates projects with site reps and contractor/fabricator reps to close the sale.
  • Travels as necessary to make calls with local reps to ensure sales success.
  • Utilizes computer technology and other tools to create professional presentations and materials necessary for the selling effort.
  • Utilizes Carboline SFA tools to communicate specifications along with monitoring and tracking projects.
  • Communicates with line management, marketing management, and local sales reps on a consistent basis.
  • Prepares monthly project tracking reports and sales forecasts through SFA tools.
  • Participates in local and national industry organizations as appropriate.
  • Service direct buying accounts as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain specifications for engineering firms for regional, national and international business.
  • Develop and maintain specifications for select owner base per account assignment.
  • Spends a majority of time developing new opportunities.
  • Provides project information to field on a monthly basis.
  • Works closely with Director of Sales and Strategic Account Managers.
  • Assists with national and international business.
