What you bring

As a Coordinator, Construction Services at Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you will bring a wealth of expertise and skills that are instrumental to our success.

You are a good fit if you have experience with:

  • Managing and administering contracts to ensure work done under them complies with contractual requirements and quality specifications in a construction setting
  • Coordinate and solve day-to-day contractual problems;
  • Managing contract risk, monitor and control schedules;
  • Liaising with Client-Partner representatives (e.g. on project-related problems and risks, negotiate and issue change orders);
  • Maintaining site activity records (e.g. photos, activity reports); and
  • Construction Management in a commercial or industrial setting.

Have the following formal Education and/or Certification(s) experience and abilities:

  • Minimum: college diploma in engineering, applied science or related field with five years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent
  • Preferred: certification in applicable field (e.g. Certified Engineering Technologist)

Abilities

  • Use applicable computer software and operating systems
  • Interpret drawings and specifications
  • Apply project, contract and risk management techniques to construction and consultant contracts
  • Demonstrate leadership and human resources management skills 

What you will do:

With your background in construction management, project coordination, and risk management, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of the following projects:

Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS). This project will acquire a medium altitude and armed Remotely Piloted Aircraft System along with associated equipment, weapons, infrastructure, and in-service sustainment capability that will support up to three concurrent lines of tasking, domestic or international. The aircraft will be stationed at 14 Wing Greenwood, Nova Scotia, and 19 Wing Comox, British Columbia.

Canadian Multi Mission Aircraft (CMMA). The Government of Canada is procuring an enhanced long-range, long-endurance multi-mission aircraft specialized in anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, to replace the CP-140 Aurora maritime patrol aircraft. The scope of the Canadian Multi-Mission Aircraft (CMMA) project includes aircraft, spare parts, training and training devices, support equipment, mission support centres, integrated logistics support, weapons and expendables, infrastructure, capability upgrades and initial in-service support.

• Additional related infrastructure construction is anticipated in support of 14 Wing Greenwood and their operations, as well as reconstruction/refurbishment of existing runways and ramps to maintain airfield facilities in good repair.

To begin a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.  As a condition of employment with DCC, a minimum reliability security status clearance is required and some roles may require secret security status clearance.

DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints. The appropriate security clearance is a condition of employment and it is the candidate’s or employee’s responsibility to ensure, they are able to obtain and maintain their required security level clearance to begin or continue their employment with DCC.  Failure to obtain or maintain, the appropriate level of security clearance means either the candidate or employee will not receive a job offer, the conditional offer will be rendered null and void or their employment will be terminated with cause. A thorough security clearance process will be applied to all candidates or employees considered for an appointment; this process includes inquiries, verifications and assessments regarding matters such as, but not limited to:

  • criminal record checks

  • reference checks

  • credit/financial status
