The mission of the National Weather Service (NWS), an agency within the Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is to provide weather, water and climate forecasts and warnings for the United States, its territories, and its adjacent waters and oceans to protect life and property and to enhance the national economy. The Weather and Climate Infrastructure Services (WCCIS) contract supports the NWS's Central Processing and Information Dissemination portfolios. The contract is managed by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Central Operations (NCO).
WCCIS supports NCO's mission which is to deliver national and global weather, water, climate and space weather guidance, forecasts, warnings and analyses to a broad range of users and partners. These products and services respond to user needs to protect life and property, enhance the nation's economy, and support the nation's growing need for environmental information.
The NOAA property control system (Sunflower) is used to control, use, maintain, repair, protect, and preserve property for all NOAA offices. Sunflower is also used to provide critical information to the NOAA financial system regarding capitalized assets. This position will assist the Government Property manager in the receipt, storage, maintenance, documentation, and disposing of Government property. Will pick up property when it is received; log the property into the system, deliver the property; and follow all documentation procedures. When property is excessed/disposed, will transport property to the proper loading dock and follow the proper documentation procedures. Will maintain storage rooms including organizing, cleaning, and inventorying. Will maintain the Microsoft Access database of storage room supplies.
2 years of experience with product/merchandise management and product/merchandise receiving and check in. Must be familiar with product control systems/databases, inventory reporting, and storage room organization. Must be adept at using MS Office software suite. Must have good organization, interpersonal, and communication (both written and verbal) skills. Must be able to physically lift and carry property up to 50 pounds. Experience using loading dock equipment, a plus. Experience with Sunflower database, a very big plus.
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
BS preferred, but years of experience may be substituted.
