ELECTRICAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN - FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Accountable for the timely electrical installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs, Hamilton Island is looking for an Electrical Services Technician to join their team.

Your Role

Responsible for the electrical installation, commissioning, maintenance and repairs of Hamilton Island’s electrical distribution network in a timely manner, ensuring a high standard of product quality, code compliance, and safety at all times.

You will also:

• Administer the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of the islands High Voltage (HV) 22 & 11kV and the Low Voltage (LV) 415/240V electrical distribution networks
• Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of 12 Megawatt Diesel Generation Plant and associated HV and LV Switchgear
• Responsible for general maintenance and repairs to the islands water and sewerage treatment plants
• Responsible for the repair and maintenance of hazardous area equipment (island fuel systems)
• Responsible for the testing and repair of the Airport Runway Lighting
• Responsible for auditing new installations
• Responsible for the reading and testing of the island’s electrical usage meters
• Assist with the maintenance and repairs of the elevators on island, including the release of trapped passengers in emergency situations
• Prioritise all work to ensure urgent repairs and those required for guest comfort are attended to immediately to achieve a high standard of safety and guest satisfaction
• This position is a live on island position and will form part of an ‘on call’ roster to attend out-of-hours breakdowns as required
• Assist any other sections/tradespersons as requested by the Electrical Services Manager, Electrical Engineer, or Senior Management.

About You

You've demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory abilities, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You will also have:

• Previous knowledge and experience with installation, commissioning, fault finding and maintenance of electrical distribution or transmission networks along with their associated protection and control systems - including SCADA and PLC systems (Essential)
• Electrical Fitter Mechanic Trades Certificate (Essential)
• Minimum 5 years’ full time Trade experience (Essential)
• High voltage switching and coordination experience and/or qualifications/accreditation - 22/11KV (Essential)
• QLD open / unrestricted driver’s license (Essential)
• Ability to be approved for and hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) (Essential)
• Previous experience with electrical instrumentation systems ideally associated with water and sewerage systems (Desirable)
• High voltage polymeric cable jointing experience (Desirable)
• Previous experience with diesel powered generators (Desirable)
• Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) qualifications/accreditation (Desirable)
• Airfield Lighting basic (Desirable)
• Senior First Aid (Desirable)
• Experience within the Tourism / Resort industry (Desirable)
