Environmental Specialist – Water / Waste

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Specialist to join our team of professionals on -site in San Antonio, Texas. office location The Environmental Specialist will contribute technically in the areas of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting and compliance, preparation and review of Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) permitting and compliance, as well as other technical experience you bring to this role.

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have experience in the preparation of NPDES wastewater discharge permit applications, including amendments, renewals, and modifications. In addition, POWER seeks a professional conversant in RCRA obligations for generators, including permitting, reporting, and site management practices. Our Team provides multi-media compliance and permitting services that also include SPCC plan preparation for a variety of industry sectors, including non-production and production-related sites, assessment of the impacts of discharges to receiving stream water quality, and local compliance and permitting support for new and existing facilities.

POWER works with a variety of industry sectors including oil and gas, food and beverage, power generation, and manufacturing. Therefore, a broad understanding of how to implement NPDES, RCRA, and SPCC for multiple industry sectors will be a benefit.  The successful candidate will manage client relationships, prepare proposals, manage projects, and develop new business opportunities. Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • NPDES permitting experience, preferably in multiple states.
  • RCRA and Texas Waste Management experience
  • SPCC plan preparation experience at complex sites.
  • Other multimedia environmental compliance experience.
  • Travel in and out of state may be required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Management, Environmental Engineering or related engineering field, Geology or related technical field.
  • 5-8 years’ diverse experience with a strong emphasis on NPDES permitting and RCRA permitting.
  • Proven communication skills (verbal, written, proposal, and presentation).
  • Multimedia environmental compliance experience.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering field, Geology or related technical field
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
