Senior Level Transmission Line Engineer

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer in our St. Louis Overhead Transmission Line Department.  This position will report to our St. Louis, Missouri office with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location.

  • Project Support
    • All aspects of transmission line design including new lines, relocations, rebuilds, upgrades, structure replacements, and fiber optic additions
    • Lead transmission design efforts with projects ranging from 34.5kV-500kV
    • Prepare and check design deliverables including plan and profiles drawings, material selection, and construction specifications
    • Perform quality reviews for both internal and subcontractor deliverables
    • Prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
    • Manage and develop project estimates, schedules, bids, and engineering support
    • Evaluate design options, criteria, and routes for technical merit
    • Understand construction standards and requirements for high voltage line work
    • Coordinate with contractor and subcontractors to ensure client satisfaction
    • Travel to client offices/field/vendor facilities as needed

 Required Education/Experience:                                                            

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
  • Experience in the design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packages
  • Understanding of NESC
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Lite
  • The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Preferred Education/Experience:              

  • 12 or more years of experience in transmission line design as outlined above
  • A Professional Engineering license (PE) is strongly preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Microstation, MFAD, and Microsoft Project is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC projects, and line construction
  • Distribution/underbuild design experience is a plus
  • Understanding of GO-95, ANSI, ASTM, ASCE, and IEC standards
  • Managerial and leadership skills

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $90K-$150K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
