Air Quality Staff Engineer/Scientist: Air Dispersion Modeler

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide. We are seeking an Air Quality Staff Engineer/Scientist with expertise in Air Dispersion Modeling for the Air Quality and Related Environmental Group. 

The candidate selected for this position may work remotely full-time at a location other than a POWER Engineer designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.

Roles and Responsibilities

This position is part of a team that assists our clients in establishing and maintaining compliance with state and federal air quality regulations.

  • Preparing and leading ambient air quality impact analyses utilizing dispersion modeling software including AERMOD, SCREEN3, and AERSCREEN in support of state and Federal (PSD) New Source Review permitting projects
  • Preparing protocols and air quality analysis reports for air dispersion modeling tasks, for approval by regulatory agencies
  • Processing raw meteorological data into a dispersion model-ready format
  • Performing air quality regulatory compliance tasks, including preparation of emissions inventories
  • Preparing applications for initial pre-construction air quality permits and for air quality permit renewals, amendments, and alterations for submission to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and other state and federal agencies
  • Obtaining, updating, and maintaining plans, permits, and/or standard operating procedures
  • Defining data requirements, gathering, and validating information for emission calculations
  • Communicating scientific and technical information through oral briefings, written documents, workshops, and conferences
  • Performing technical work and growing into various aspects of project management, including managing small tasks and projects; preparing small proposals; performing increasingly complex project tasks in support of large projects; and liaising with clients and other POWER staff

 Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, meteorology, or related science field
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant air quality dispersion modeling experience
  • Excellent communication skills including report writing, oral presentations, and direct verbal communication
  • Proficiency in the use of standard software including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Availability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Valid driver's license

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $90K- $140K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
