SUMMARY:

Company Overview: The Urban One story began 40 years ago with one radio station and is now a multimedia powerhouse with 50+ radio stations in 13 markets (Radio One), nationally syndicated radio personality networks (Reach Media), national cable television networks (TV One/CLEO TV), and digital, social, mobile brands (Interactive One).

Role: We are searching for a dynamic and forward-thinking Director, Integrated Marketing for Radio One and Reach Media on a national level with a focus on creating, developing, and executing cross-platform revenue-generating integrated marketing campaigns that merchandize everything the company has to offer including but not limited to local and nationally syndicated radio, personalities, events, social, mobile, and digital. 

The Director, Integrated Marketing will have a key role in building deep compelling custom programs for national advertisers while presenting the company as an innovative multiplatform media organization with a strong value proposition.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conceptualize, develop, and bring to life scalable unique marketable ideas and solutions that are customized for specific company or client initiatives and their associated KPIs, and will serve as captivating thought starters for client conversations
  • Write compelling proposals utilizing brand and consumer insights, research and analytics, to create engaging marketing stories told through an audio-focused lens
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate with various internal groups (i.e., One Solution cross platform marketing division, One X branded content creative studio, sales, digital, legal, marketing, editorial, client services, research, programming, etc.) including all 13 Radio One markets and Reach Media national shows
  • Develop scalable and sellable sponsorship opportunities for our national and multi-market on-the-ground and virtual events
  • Play a leading role in sales marketing ideation around new annual or quarterly initiatives, key cultural moments, and other opportunities to be leveraged by clients
  • Work with the VP, Integrated Marketing and Partnerships to continually improve and refine sales products and offerings
  • Collect and compile various information and data from not only our 13 Radio One markets and Reach Media networks but also TV and Interactive divisions as needed to adeptly combine into and consistently keep updated cohesive synergistic national/corporate marketing presentations      
  • Project manage national/multi-market campaigns and promotional extensions all the way through from pre-sale to post-sale recap with quantitative/qualitative results and attribution
  • Understand and embrace the challenges of the constantly shifting media and advertising landscape, and collaborate closely with the VP, Integrated Marketing & Partnerships to proactively determine how our national corporate sales teams should respond and react with new ideas, new thinking, and new approaches
  • Attend select client presentations as needed
  • Coordinate with Legal and Business Affairs to secure appropriate letters of agreement/contracts, contest rules and regulations

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to formulate clear and concise marketing materials, persuasive sales stories, and presentation delivery to internal and external audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate a highly-matrixed organization and collaborate in a team-oriented environment while fostering strong relationships with interdepartmental team members as well as effectively communicating with external clients
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and the ability to work with speed and urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced environment with pressure of firm deadlines on a regular basis
  • Previous success working with a broad spectrum of established and potential direct clients and their agencies
  • Strong knowledge of current audio and digital performance measurement and attribution
  • Positive energy, enthusiasm, charisma, leadership qualities, and proactive personality
  • Fluency in recent news, pop-culture, trade publications, competitive landscape, trends, and business conversations with the ability to translate that knowledge into actionable linkages directly connected to day-to-day work
  • A passion for marketing, media, and strategic partnerships
  • Understanding of the media sales process and sponsorship pricing/packaging strategy a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Excel)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, at a minimum, in a related field
  • Minimum 7 years at a media or related organization in a strategic sales/marketing leadership capacity where responsible for ad sales/sponsorship development, marketing solutions, presentation and execution
  • Previous radio experience a plus
  • Multi-cultural marketing/communications experience a plus
