Job Position: Talent Acquisition Lead                                               

Reports to: Sr. Director of Human Resources

Department: Human Resources             

Location: Eastern Region – Urban One Locations (Remote part-time)

OVERVIEW:

The qualified candidate for this role is a self-starter who can independently complete job duties and projects from start to finish, is detail-oriented, and enjoys interacting with people. This position is a key member of the Human Resources team demonstrating a can-do attitude with exceptional communication and negotiation skills. The Talent Acquisition Lead will assist with leading the full-cycle recruiting experience, from talent sourcing and attracting candidates to interviewing and hiring great employees and establishing best practices in area of expertise. A successful Talent Acquisition Lead will collaborate with department managers (as assigned) on a regular basis and proactively identify future hiring needs. They should also be able to attract candidates using various sources including but not limited to job boards, job fairs, college outreach and employee referrals.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Talent Acquisition

  • Operates as a creative and insightful thought partner to management to support effective recruiting strategies
  • Sources candidates of identified exempt positions for the radio division
  • Conducts aggressive outreach to passive candidates of appropriate skill and background
  • Researches, sources, recommends and implements talent solutions that align with the company’s immediate needs and long-term strategy
  • Enhances company career sites by implementing social media connections
  • Creates a diversity sourcing strategy, including building strong external partnerships with diverse associations
  • Leverages analytics/data to determine best outcomes for acquisition support
  • Partners with leaders within the organization to track ongoing hiring needs
  • Identifies a variety of sourcing tools and builds a talent pipeline for strategy recruiting candidates
  • Makes regular recommendations for best practices in the area of responsibility
  • Thoroughly develops, edits, and reviews new and existing job descriptions to determine the proper FLSA designation by applying secured knowledge of wage and hour laws. Assist with FLSA internal audits.
  • Creates and implements talent acquisition strategies for leadership
  • Designs and drives consistent recruiting, interviewing and hiring practices that support a positive candidate experience
  • Identifies external providers as required to ensure hiring needs are met
  • Defines hiring benchmarks related to diversity hiring and hiring manager and candidate satisfaction
  • Drafts and administer accurate offer letters for sales and vice president positions and proactively assist People Services Partner if needed. Oversees accurate offer letters developed by People Services Partner and Recruiting
  • Assist with reference checks, if needed
  • Review any adjudication reports to assess if they meet company standards
  • Answers inquiries regarding compensation in accordance with department best practices and/or as legally required
  • Manages effective diversity outreach sites/contact and vendor(s)
  • Enthusiastically represents the HR department and Urban One externally

 

General Responsibilities

  • Serves as a trusted adviser to the SVP including providing insightful reporting and making thoughtful recommendations in areas of expertise
  • Serves as an active mentor to both People Services Partner & Recruiting to guide efficient utilization of time and development of talent acquisition duties
  • Assist with the development of best practices using ATS and adhere to protocols
  • Lead or support the HR department with the department and global projects and approach with enthusiasm
  • Develops reporting to analyze attrition and make recommendations to the management team
  • Proactively engages in professional learning/training. Attend department training, webinars, and seminars as required and deploy skills to enhance the effectiveness of job performance. To include attending the Network’s and Urban One’s mandatory training in accordance with established deadlines
  • Maintains current knowledge of and ensures compliance with employment-related laws and regulations

  • Solid ability to conduct different types of interviews (structured and competency-based)
  • Hands-on experience with various selection processes including phone/video interviews

  • Ability to develop high-quality written communication, proof and edit documents, spreadsheets,
  • presentations, etc.

  • Proficiency with sourcing tools that include web posting, diversity channels, networking venues, networking venues and cold-calling
  • Travels 10% and adheres to the travel policy
  • Submit to a criminal background check
  • Ability to legally work in the US and provide required supporting documentation
  • Provide proof of vaccination status upon request, as applicable
  • Ensure team(s) attend mandatory department and/or mandatory company training(s) as required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources/related or HR certification is strongly preferred. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with applicant tracking software is required.
