Job Position:        HR Onboarding Coordinator

FLSA:                    Non-Exempt  

Status:                  Full-time                                         

Work Location:   Washington, DC Metropolitan Area;

(This position may work remote on a part-time basis in accordance with company policy and manager approval.)

 

OVERVIEW:

The qualified candidate for this role is a self-starter who can independently complete a project and job duties from start to finish, is detail-oriented, and enjoys interacting with people.  The incumbent will demonstrate a can-do attitude and thrives in a fast-paced workplace. They will be a key member of the team and serve as a direct point of contact in the onboarding process with perspective candidates and hiring managers. In addition, they will be front-line providing support with onboarding documents, HR best practices and applying established practices that adhere to required timeline for receiving documentation for onboarding compliance. They will provide support to the Senior Director and Recruiting Onboarding and Talent Acquisition Team. This position works with the Global HR team to provide support to Urban One’s employees.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage the job requisition and onboarding process to include but not limited to reviewing and posting jobs, creating offer letters for non-executives, monitoring the background check process and I-9 or E-Verify processing.  
  • Source thoughtful posting solutions for clients and prepare external postings in accordance with budget and approval 
  •  Act as the primary point of contact with new hires, providing high touch and strong customer service 
  •  Conduct new hire orientation in coordination with the benefits team as needed 
  • Provides requested support by recruiting team routinely, to include but not limited to scheduling and general outreach to candidate, etc. 
  • Assist in expanding recruitment efforts to include organizing and prepping for career fairs or related outreach events 
  •  Creates support documents for workflow and updates SOP as needed for respective area of duty 
  • Conducts research and provides polished findings/reports as needed at the request of hiring managers, legal, finance or HR team
  • Works with SVP of human resources and any other team members when called upon 
  • Executes other duties as assigned 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Critical thinker, innovative, and solution-focused 
  • Works with a sense of urgency and ability to multi-task with special attention to detail 
  • Proficiency with MS Suite including Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, DocuSign (power forms and signature) and related tools 
  • Must be able to work independently to complete work/projects and also thrive working in a team 
  • Must be able to create polished and thoughtful presentation upon request 
  • Must be able to draft, proof and edit documents, spreadsheets, etc. with precision using proper grammar, punctuation and tone 
  • Represent the department professionally, maintaining positive engagement with employees at all levels 
  • Commitment to client and candidate as evidenced by responsive, well-crafted communications verbal and written and customer service oriented 
  • Project management experience, with the ability to respond to changing priorities, and enjoyment of a fast-paced work environment 
  • Excellent customer service and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise good judgment 
  • General knowledge of federal and state laws impacting the Human Resources function 
  • Must be willing to travel to the office as scheduled and unscheduled with limited notice 
  • Provide proof of the authorized ability to work in the US 
  • Submit to a background check 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, with at least 2-4 years of experience in an HR support role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience with applicant tracking software is preferred.
