**SALARY RANGE: $66,500 to $75,000**

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identify, write, and publish news stories and create content with excellent quality and timeliness
• Lead NewsOne’s nights and weekends coverage
• Pitch and write original, exclusive reported stories and relevant content on a daily basis
• Create and maintain relationships with news makers and influencers
• Ensure daily editorial quotas are met
• Edit writers of varying skill levels
• Monitoring social media and other publications to stay abreast of breaking news and trending stories with the ability to cover them quickly as an assigning editor or writer
• Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory trainings and adheres to related course deadlines.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

• BA/BS in journalism, English, communications or equivalent experience preferred
• Must be an avid consumer of news, current events, politics, entertainment and culture topics, with particular attention to content related to African-American and millennial audiences.
• Must understand and be fluent in the basic structure of news stories, from the lede to the kicker
• Must be familiar with the best practices of news aggregation
• Must have good news judgment when it comes to photos and selecting images to accompany news stories
• Expert in social media sharing skills & success methods
• Knowledge of reporting and editing standards and practices, as well as AP style manual
• 3-4 years’ experience in online content publishing.
