**SALARY RANGE: $80,000 to $95,000**

The Managing Editor, MadameNoire is responsible for overseeing daily content for MadameNoire.com, working with staff editors and contributors and maintaining editorial calendars. Additional key duties include maintaining budgets and overseeing quality control of content on site.

The ideal candidate is up to date with what’s trending in the women’s lifestyle space, possesses a genuine passion for our brands and their passion points (women’s lifestyle, love & relationships, human interest, etc.), an authentic connection with the brands’ audience, and will consistently approach content with enthusiasm, creativity, and innovation.

The Managing Editor, MadameNoire reports to the Vice President, Content.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage daily editorial content planning, editing and publishing stories with excellent quality and timeliness
  • Develop and curate signature content, including features, exclusives, video concepts and relevant content
  • Recruit writers/editors with strong voices to strengthen the voice of MadameNoire.com
  • Serve as a face for the brand, via media appearances, offline events and sponsored content opportunities
  • Create content partnerships and foster relationships on behalf of the brand
  • Edit and write high-quality content (including op-eds, reported pieces and buzzes) on a regular basis
  • Develop content series and assign long-form reported stories that will improve the brand’s reputation as a top-flight fashion and beauty outlet for Black women
  • Refine the editorial voice and branding of MadameNoire.com
  • Coordinate with sales and integrated marketing to ensure that business objectives are met though editorial
  • Encourage and facilitate cooperation with other content teams – including editorial, social, video and local -- to create brand synergy across the Urban One Content Universe
  • Work closely with Content Leadership and Audience Development to set a growth strategy, establish goals, and map out ways to achieve them.
  • Instill a continued culture of collaboration and communication
  • Comply with Network and Urban One’s mandatory trainings and adheres to related course deadlines

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in journalism, English, communications or equivalent experience preferred
  • 8-10 years in digital content publishing
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and direct a team to include but not limit to:
    • Provide regular constructive feedback
    • Resolve issues/conflicts with diplomacy in a timely manner
    • Provide on-going guidance and support for growth and development
    • Deploy effective coaching skills
    • Practical understanding of anti-harassment and discrimination laws
    • Ability to effectively administer performance reviews, and corrective action plans as appropriate
    • Ensure team (s) attend mandatory department and/or mandatory company training (s) as required

**SALARY RANGE: $80,000 to $95,000**
