Contracts Specialist

POWER Engineers, Incorporated is seeking a full-time Contracts Specialist to work within the Operations Legal Services Department. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a legal background who are not looking to actively practice law, but still want a rewarding career in the legal field. Applicants must have strong analytical skills and like independent work. As a Contracts Specialist, you will review and analyze contractual risks relating to all aspects of POWER’s business, including in project agreements, subcontracts, and non-disclosure agreements. You will provide guidance regarding contract interpretation issues and advise on alternative approaches to mitigate risk. You will participate in negotiating contract terms and providing explanations when warranted. This role also provides guidance to POWER staff in the preparation of form contracts, including reviewing and developing contract language, and coordinating and/or issuing POWER contracts. You will also build and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients, including Project Managers and other stakeholders. You may also assist in maintaining contract files in conjunction with POWER’s contract management software (Cobblestone) and managing hard and electronic files as needed. This position offers the ability to work remotely from any location in the U.S, with the possibility to work full-time/hybrid in any U.S. POWER office. (Please note where you will be located in the application). Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings. 

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field
  • 2 years’ experience in the contracting/legal field or equivalent
  • Creativity and initiative; ability to identify problems and/or inefficiencies and independently offer/implement practical solutions
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to focus on details while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task while working under tight deadlines to complete contract assignments for a wide variety of internal stakeholders from various professional backgrounds and geographic regions
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to effectively interact at all levels of the organization and with external clients of the company
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a team

Desired Education/Experience

  • Experience in drafting and reviewing corporate real estate contracts, including leases
  • Experience in the engineering, construction or procurement environment
  • Experience in contract negotiation or procurement
  • Experience with Cobblestone or similar contract management software

Base Salary Range:  $65-75k annually

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
