Substation Drafter
Job Summary
POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Drafter to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Orlando, Florida office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (candidate must live within driving distance to the office).
Responsibilities
- Assist with drafting and design tasks for substation projects, including physical and civil layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Develop proficiency in CAD software while adhering to client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with project expectations
- Learn and apply POWER’s standards, procedures, and processes in project execution
- Collaborate with team members to resolve design challenges and seek guidance from experienced professionals
- Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail in assigned tasks
Required Education/Experience
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, or equivalent industry experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, ideally in an engineering environment
- Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with other team members.
- Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
- Knowledge of substation electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and/or substation physical/civil drawings
- Experience using Autodesk Raster Design and Bentley Descartes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong mathematical skills and experience working with scaled drawings
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and accountable for assigned responsibilities
- Experience with ProjectWise File Management System
