Mid-Level Distribution Engineer

Job Summary

POWER Engineers, Member is seeking a Mid-Level Distribution Engineer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in St. Louis, MO. The qualified candidate must be familiar with the design and operation of utility distribution systems by either being directly employed by an electric utility company’s distribution department, or by consulting in distribution planning and design for an electric utility company. In-office is preferred but a fully remote or hybrid position can be discussed. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Engineering and design for overhead and underground systems in varying electrical and environmental conditions, with varying client and industry standards will be a primary responsibility
  • The ability to have direct, positive client interaction in all phases of projects is expected
  • Leading teams of engineers, designers, field personnel, and drafters to complete projects is expected
  • Assisting with developing proposals, work plans, budgets, and schedules as well as assisting with managing each element will be required
  • The ability to apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop the most complete and competent design
  • The ability to review engineering packages and reports is required. The ability to sign/seal is preferred.
  • Candidate must be located in Missouri or Illinois

Required Education/Experience

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering; preferably electrical or civil
  • Five (5) + years of utility distribution experience
  • Significant knowledge of the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines (4 kV through 69 kV)
  • Experience with utility standards, NEC, NESC, joint facilities design, compatible units, and construction package development
  • Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must have a strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills
  • Must have the ability to travel upon occasion

Desired Education/Experience

  • A registered Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain registration
  • Exposure to Work Management programs such as Maximo, SAP, etc.
  • Exposure to utility GIS such as GE Smallworld, ArcFM, AUD, etc.
  • Exposure to pole loading and analysis programs such as Spida-Calc and PLS-CADD
