Archeological Field Technician - Part Time Temporary

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is seeking part-time temporary Archeological Field Technicians for a busy summer and fall season including surveys in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to support Phase I cultural resources surveys. Additional work/tasks may arise providing additional work opportunities. 

As commensurate with experience, the Field Technician provides technical support, utilizing a basic understanding of anthropological and archeological field techniques in connection with locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating archeological sites and supporting field surveys. Conducting field surveys (pedestrian and shovel test surveys) using topographic maps, aerial photographs, and ESRI Field Maps App will be a regular part of this role. This position requires the ability to work long hours, in difficult or remote environments in varying weather conditions and the ability to work with groups composed of diverse personalities.

Required Education/Experience

           Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archeology, Geology, or a related discipline

           Knowledge and understanding of equipment, technology, and paperwork used in the recording and documenting of archeological sites and artifacts

           Knowledge of health and safety standards

           Valid driver’s license

           Ability to work long hours and in harsh environments and in varying weather conditions

           Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with team members

           Must be able to carry heavy loads in the field

 Desired Education/Experience

           Experience in utility transmission, petrochemical exploration projects

           Experience with Arc Field Maps data collection

           Experience participating in daily Job Hazard Analysis “tailgate” safety meetings

Base Salary Range: $21.00 - $35.00 per hour

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike.
