Sunflower Electric Power Corporation, a generation and transmission cooperative, is seeking Operator Trainees at Holcomb Station, our coal-fired 350-megawatt power plant! In this position, you'll be in a team setting and will learn how to operate plant equipment and systems by attending generation power plant training classes for 12 weeks. Upon successful completion of the training classes, Trainees will progress through an on-the-job operator trainee program to higher-level operations positions with increased responsibility and compensation. Qualifications:

• High school diploma. Technical school or related industrial experience preferred.
• Able to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
• Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends, when assigned to an operations crew.

We administer selection tests for a variety of positions. The required tests have been developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a trade association of investor-owned electric utility companies. We strongly encourage candidates to review all the information, including sample test brochures, and to use the available practice tests before taking the actual test, available here:

Practice tests provide sample questions and detailed discussions of the correct answers. It is important to take the practice test as you would the actual one, with similar intensity and concentration. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. 

Note: EEI does not allow access to the actual tests. Testing sessions are held at various locations.
