Area Specialist - Pet / Animal Health

Job Summary:

This is a full-time, fully benefited position.

Order, stock, sign, and merchandise the Animal Health department. Sell livestock and pet-related products, provide product information, match customer needs with appropriate products, maintain department merchandising standards, and keep the department clean. Lead store and contribute to department team to improve the overall performance of departments. The Pet Area Specialist will lead the store's Pet department while providing excellent customer service, and customer education and taking part in the store's success as a team member. They will answer customer questions regarding pet products, foods, toys, pet health, and related items. The Pet Specialist will provide product information, educate customers and ensure the department maintains all retail standards. They will help lead the store and contribute to the store team to improve the overall performance of the location.

Responsibilities:

• Provide and ensure customer service in assigned departments.  
• Be informed and provide product information to customers and the store team in designated departments.
• Understand the needs of department customers and further develop department product knowledge.
• Participate with other Area specialists and department buyers in efforts to improve the value of the department.

Successful Candidates Will Have:

• 2 years of retail experience.
• 2 years of customer service experience.
• Livestock care experience.
• The skill to operate computers and other automated office machines.
• The ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to interact successfully with customers and co-workers.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• The ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen.
• Experience that relates to the Wilco Pet Department
• Examples: experience in a Vet Clinic, boarding facilities, pet-focused retail experience
