
Position Description
Front-End Department Manager
JOB PURPOSE: TO DELIVER ON THE MISSION OF WILCO BY PROFITABLY PROVIDING SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
JOB SUMMARY: Directs daily activities and participates in the supervision and performance management of cashiers. Acts on Wilco’s customer service strategy by providing fast, courteous, and efficient customer service. Trains cashiers and other store employees. Lead cashier department and contribute with store team to improve overall performance of departments. Act as Manager on Duty as assigned.
Reports to: Store Manager / Assistant Store Manager
Supervisors: Staff in assigned department
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage store personnel in assigned departments including scheduling, training, mentoring, coaching, and evaluating employees.
- Partner with Store Manager on staff selection and other HR functions.
- Understand needs of customers and provide and ensure customer service in assigned departments.
- Order, merchandise, stock, and sign departmental products utilizing established standards.
- Be informed and provide product information to customers and store team in designated department and further develop department product knowledge.
- Maintain department orderliness and cleanliness by complying with all established standards.
- Act as Manager on Duty as assigned.
- Recommend and participate with other inter-departmental team members in efforts to improve value of department.
- Fill in at other departments and cashier positions as needed.
- Attend regular and special meetings as requested.
- Open and/or close farm store as assigned.
- Maintain and comply with all established retail standards.
- Stock store merchandise as directed.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING
- Skill to operate computer and other automated office machines.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers and co-workers.
- Ability to obtain specialized training certifications (i.e., Stihl, Benjamin Moore, etc)
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- Two years of retail department experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
