Senior Coordinator – Project Delivery, Monitoring and Evaluation

POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya
The Senior Coordinator – Project Delivery, Monitoring and Evaluation is a core member of the Strategy & Delivery team, responsible for developing and managing systems and processes that enhance project performance, enable data-driven decision-making, and ensure robust monitoring and evaluation across the Africa portfolio. The role will work closely with country and regional teams, as well as global M&E specialists, to build and implement frameworks that align with organizational goals and support landscape-level conservation delivery.
Reporting to the Conservation Strategy Senior Manager, this role will serve as a technical and operational bridge across teams, improving consistency, oversight, and impact measurement of conservation programming. This includes coordinating quarterly performance monitoring, supporting global reporting efforts, and designing data systems to elevate project learning and accountability. The role requires structured thinking, intellectual curiosity, and a team-oriented mindset to help translate strategy into actionable insights and measurable results.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate quarterly performance monitoring and reporting across the Africa region, developing systems to track progress against key strategic and programmatic indicators.
- Identify risks, delivery issues, and performance trends, and escalate where necessary to senior management with recommended mitigation actions.
- Collaborate with field teams to improve the use of delivery data and bring narrative analysis to support evidence-based decision-making across programs.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to support data-driven recommendations and adaptive program design.
- Support the development and implementation of a regional M&E framework, in partnership with global M&E colleagues, aligned to the Africa Strategy.
- Synthesize findings and insights into compelling presentations, dashboards, and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the Executive Team and Board.
- Contribute to biannual global reporting processes, and provide timely and accurate inputs to other reporting requirements.
- Identify systemic delivery challenges and participate in the design and roll-out of cross-cutting systems solutions in collaboration with Sub-Regional teams.
- Work closely with multi-functional teams across geographies to share knowledge, ensure delivery alignment, and foster learning.
Additional Responsibilities
- Design and deploy practical tools and processes for project teams to improve performance tracking and learning.
- Support adaptive management practices at the project and landscape levels by helping structure complex challenges into manageable components.
- Assist in the preparation of internal reports, presentations, and learning materials related to program delivery and outcomes.
- Contribute to internal capacity-building efforts on monitoring, analysis, and project delivery.
- Assist in preparing technical documentation for donor proposals, reports, and evaluations
People and Resource Management Responsibilities
- Directly report to and receive strategic guidance from the Conservation Strategy Senior Manager.
- Serve as a coordination point across regional delivery, MEL, and operational teams.
- Supervise interns or vendors supporting data and delivery systems as relevant.
- Manage key data systems, tools, and reporting schedules relevant to performance and evaluation.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position follows a hybrid work structure, working some days from the office and some days remotely. Guidance will be shared during the interview process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, international development, social science, public policy, or data science).
- 2 to 4 years of experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation, or strategy design and implementation in a management consulting firm, conservation, or development setting.
- Proven experience designing and implementing M&E frameworks, performance reporting systems, and adaptive management tools.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with field teams in Africa.
- Demonstrated ability to work across diverse teams and functions in a multicultural, international organization.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in English.
- Structured thinker with strong critical thinking, data analysis, and systems-thinking capabilities.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and fast-paced environments, with intellectual curiosity and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Proven ability to synthesize information and present complex data in visually compelling and accessible formats (including PowerPoint and Power BI).
- Working knowledge of results frameworks, theory of change models, and project lifecycle approaches.
- Familiarity with donor reporting requirements and programmatic evaluation best practices.
- Skilled in building collaborative relationships across departments and levels of seniority.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Knowledge of project management tools like Monday.com is preferred.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Copilot), familiarity with Power BI or other data visualization tools, and ability to use AI to enhance efficiency.
