Summary:

The IT Systems Administrator supports the overall management of the Enterprise’s IT infrastructure including, but not limited to, day-to-day administration, maintenance, support, and planning capacity of the full infrastructure stack including storage, network, compute, hypervisors, operating systems, and applications. This also includes hosted and SaaS systems. 

The ideal candidate stays ahead of technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways to take advantage of new technologies. They will have exceptional problem resolution skills handling multi-site VMware and Windows Active Directory environments and isn’t afraid to “get dirty” with hands-on support at the hardware level when required. Job Requirements: 

  • Actively supervises monitoring systems for potential issues, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, ensuring all critical systems are being supervised effectively to prevent unplanned outages and issues performs root cause analysis as required. 

  • Manage Windows Servers across the enterprise, including Active Directory Domain Services, Certificate Services, Federation Services (ADFS), DNS and DHCP, Key Management Service (KMS), Storage management, Production applications and Windows Firewall management 

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements 

  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required 

  • Assist with IT infrastructure lifecycle management, planning capacity procurement, and vendor management 

  • Ensure accurate server and data backup operations and assist with recovery operations as needed 

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and administration of server patching strategy and plan and undertake regular maintenance work across all IT systems and maintain Disaster Recovery systems/environment & assist with routine DR planning and testing 

  • Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and solve issues. Coordinate and perform post-resolution follow-ups to service requests 

  • Identify and learn vital software and hardware used and supported by the organization and propose fixes for performance bottlenecks 

  • Handle servers and software with SCCM including inventory, patching software deployment 

Skills/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in, Information Technology, or a related field; or the equivalent work experience with IT Certification(s) in relevant field with a Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a large VMware/Windows environment 

  • Solid understanding of Active Directory Users, Groups, Containers, and permissions with expert level understanding of Group Policy,Windows Server 2012 – 2019 & LTSC/LTSB and VMware vSphere including vCenter, vDS, and ESXi 6.0 - 6.7+ in a cluster environment 

  • Detailed ‘hands-on’ experience provisioning, monitoring, maintaining, and fixing Virtual Ma 

  • Solid grasp of SAN management and configuration (NetApp/Pure preferred) 

  • Knowledge of networking including IPv4, iSCSI, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, Wi-Fi, physical media, OSI model 

  • Experience working with Cisco UCS servers or equivalent 

  • Extensive knowledge to install and support Microsoft SQL Server platforms; including security, SQL Recovery Models and standard backup methodologies 

  • Sophisticated knowledge of NTFS and Share permissions 

  • Experienced with Microsoft 365 including Exchange, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint, and collaboration tools like Teams and WebEx 

  • Must be willing to be on-call and available to respond to emergencies on a 24x7 basis
