BARGE ENGINEER – HIE Shute Harbour Warehouse

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Barge Engineer to join our team. This role involves ensuring the efficient loading and unloading of barge transfers in accordance with industry safety standards and regulations. If you are a team player with strong communication skills and maritime experience, we would love to hear from you!

Your Role:

  • Maintain and service barge operating equipment to ensure optimum availability of the barge.
  • Conduct and record planned maintenance on machinery and equipment in accordance with OEM/manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform and document all prestart, running, shutdown, and breakdown procedures, adhering to or exceeding industry best practices.
  • Accurately record and process the barge transfer manifest and pass it on to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Ensure safety, health, and environmental concerns for all passengers, guests, and others aboard the barge, including delivering safety demonstrations or explanations of safety equipment use.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the barge at the end of each shift or run.
  • Perform any other tasks and duties related to this position.
  • Perform deckhand duties on scheduled days.

About You:

  • AMSA MED 2 (Essential).
  • Forklift Licence (Essential).
  • C-Class Licence (Highly desirable).
  • AMSA Master45 (Desirable).
  • 2 years of experience in the maritime industry (Desirable).
  • Sound computer skills (Desirable).
