ADS Director
POWER Engineers’ Energy Advisory Services Business Unit (ADS) focuses on partnering with clients as they consider broader energy strategies, regulatory frameworks, market trends, grid modernization opportunities, and sustainability goals. As part of the ADS group, the Energy Strategy team performs a variety of consulting and advisory tasks to help clients develop strategy, evaluate technical options, and develop solutions for today’s energy challenges. ADS is looking for an ADS Director – Energy Strategy to work with the Energy Strategy team and help it thrive.
Job Summary
Performs the same duties as Advisor, Sr. Advisor II as well as the following additional requirements:
- Performs duties without supervision as required by project risk
- Applies expert-level business, engineering, and research techniques to direct project teams and solve project-related problems
- Follows and develops thought leadership on emerging trends and learns new skills readily as needed
- Writes/creates/delivers technical reports, memos, and presentations and is an impeccable communicator to a variety of audiences
- Has achieved trusted advisor status with a variety of clients and is able to add new ones
- Provides senior leadership support to junior advisory staff in assembling project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, develops scope/schedule/budget, and monitors against plan and contract
- Serves as Advisory SME to advisors, analysts, and production project teams
Required Education/Experience
- 20+ years of applicable energy industry experience with strong technical aptitude
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Technology, Engineering, or other related fields required, PE or MBA required; PhD preferred
Demonstrated experience in the following areas required:
Technical:
- Prepares and oversees a variety of complex technical analyses, reports, and other types of deliverables
- Strong ability to research and compile large amounts of data quickly and independently
- Serves as a technical SME in certain areas of expertise and has broad knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in multiple practice areas
- Assists in the preparation of business cases and cost-benefit analyses related to core technical competency
Business:
- Development of overall project execution plan and sequencing of activities to facilitate efficient and organized execution of the work
- Organizes and oversees the implementation of POWER’s quality process on project work
- Support the development of strategic plans for clients in the energy industry including business case
- Typically leads med-large advisory engagements with complex technical challenges
- Actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring
- Assists in Proposal development and other business functions as needed
- Responsible for the financial success of their projects
- Contributes to ADS business planning and strategy process
- Expert verbal and written communication skills using the English language
- Revenue goals TBD for 2025
Leadership:
- Supports recruitment and hiring & retention of new staff into ADS group as appropriate
- Adhere and actively support ADS mission and vision statements
- Actively recruits, retains, and fosters the next generation of advisors in the group
- Develops and periodically maintains succession planning tools
- Coordinates with other divisions BD teams as needed to support Advisory Opportunities
- Coordinates with other divisions ALs, DMs, & BUDs to secure resources to support Advisory Opportunities as needed
Client Engagement:
- Trusted Advisor with Clients
- Has a strong working relationship with client peers via conferences, project meetings, and office visits
- Identifies potential clients of interest and develops plans to win work in coordination with other Directors and ADS
Other:
- Leads POWER Contract negotiations & review process (legal to support)
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned
- Travel required = 25%+
- Actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring to less senior advisors
