Sr Category Manager - Beverage (Coffee)

Your responsibilities
The Sr. Category Manager is leading a product category (Beverage, Food, or HomeCare) and taking on a pivotal role in shaping and driving the category strategy within the organization to achieve category-specific KPIs for market share, turnover, and EBIT. As the leader of their category, they will work collaboratively with various local and global groups to drive and maximize sales within the category and serve as the central figure in product launches. Strong stakeholder management and teamwork are crucial to success in this role, as it requires effective collaboration across diverse functional areas. This senior position demands a strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit who is proactive in identifying growth opportunities and implementing innovative solutions. They will be empowered to lead initiatives independently, leveraging market insights, consumer feedback, and competitive analysis to set ambitious goals and achieve exceptional results.
Local Category Strategy and Vision:
· Lead the development and execution of a forward-thinking local category strategy that aligns with corporate objectives and drives significant market impact.
· Proactively identify and assess emerging market trends, consumer behaviors, and competitive dynamics to uncover high-potential growth opportunities.
· Champion the evaluation and redesign of category-specific business models and channels to maximize revenue and profitability in collaboration with local sales teams.
· Partner with headquarters to develop the product category business plan, including turnover, budget, and profitability targets.
Marketing & Product Management:
· Partner with headquarters to establish a proactive product roadmap that integrates innovative SKU offerings tailored to local market demands.
· Identify current roadmap/market gaps and push for additional products to fill those.
· Develop and manage pricing strategies and define the channel split optimizing for market impact and profitability.
· Spearhead the local marketing mix initiatives and sell-out support requirements, while driving category profitability in collaboration with Brand Communication and Sales team.
· Defines the local marketing plan incl. timing for category activities, new launches and channel/account specific activities according to local needs in collaboration with the global category and leads the implementation.
· Monitor and evaluate product performance with a focus on continuous improvement, proactively driving the optimization of the local product portfolio.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence:
· Lead and influence cross-functional collaboration with global category teams and local stakeholders to drive performance, market share growth, and profitability of assigned category.
· Act as a strategic partner to sales teams, cultivating strong relationships with retailers and trade partners, and supporting major customer negotiations with data-driven insights.
· Work closely with global and local BSH teams to enable launches across retailers and products (e.g. new or optimized logistics and customer service set-up).
· Serve as the central figure in every product launch of the assigned category, uniting diverse teams and ensuring cohesive execution while driving alignment across functions.
· Prepare and deliver presentations for product launches and line reviews to various stakeholders incl. senior leadership.
Performance Monitoring & Strategic Reporting:
· Establish and monitor key performance indicators, including market share, turnover, and EBIT, while providing actionable insights to evaluate the success of strategic initiatives and come up with measures to further drive business success.
· Utilize advanced data analytics to drive category-specific KPIs and ensure exceptional sales performance, making necessary adjustments based on performance trends.
Training & Communication:
· Design and implement high-impact category and product training sessions, enhancing team capabilities and driving effective execution.
· Provide relevant product-specific information to support marketing efforts and product training activities.
· Ensure data accuracy across systems, catalogs, brochures, and other marketing materials.
Other tasks:
· Drive proactive demand planning for the category, closely monitoring stock availability to align with market dynamics.
· Coordinate testing with local business partners and address quality issues as necessary.
· Coordinates information flow for quality issues if necessary.
· Drive a culture of innovation by sharing best practices and insights with HQ category counterparts and engaging in knowledge exchange.
· Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Your profile
· Bachelor’s degree (Marketing or related field) – Required
· Master's Degree – Preferred
· 7-10 Years of related Experience – Required
· Proven ability to develop and execute long-term category strategies in alignment with organizational goals. Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to steer from the big picture perspective. Agile mindset to pivot strategies based on performance data and market feedback.
· Experience in leading cross-functional teams to drive performance and innovation.
· Strong relationship-building skills to influence at senior management levels and across functions.
· Proven ability to influence and drive results within a matrix organization, under difficult and sometimes stressful circumstances
· Demonstrated project leadership skills; experienced owning and driving complex projects independently
· Ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
· Expertise in budget management, profitability analysis, and P&L oversight for product categories.
· Advanced skills in data analytics to derive actionable insights and optimize strategy.
· Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on identifying and implementing creative solutions for growth.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
· Commitment to achieving measurable results and exceeding performance targets.
· Strong understanding of customer needs and ability to align product offerings accordingly.
· Travel Percentage – 10%
Your Pay & Benefits
The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the payments range from 0% to 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.
Benefits offered include the following:

· Two weeks of paid vacation for all non-temporary status new hires below Director level positions. Vacation entitlement increases based on years of service with BSH.
· Unlimited paid vacation for all Director and above level positions.
· The greater of (a) 40 hours of paid sick leave or (b) state or local minimum requirements for paid leave (Non-Production Line).
· 40 hours of paid personal leave (Production Line).
· 12 days of paid holidays per year (max 8 hours paid per day).
