Mid-Level Substation P&C Designer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a mid-level electrical designer with experience in substation protection and control (P&C) design. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Saint Louis, Missouri office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations.
- Perform detailed design of one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA and communications.
- Familiar with conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, AC/DC service calculations and selection of substation equipment.
- The successful candidate shall be able to contribute to substation equipment specifications, proposal development, and project scheduling.
- Occasional travel will be required.
Required Education/Experience
- Ability to function as a Mid-Level Substation P&C Designer in our St Louis office.
- Experience in 15kV through 230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
- Experience filling the role as substation designer for several projects occurring concurrently.
- Four (4) or more years’ experience in utility substation design as outlined above.
- The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience
- Experience in 230kV through 500kV substation design.
- Experience with BIM style design software (AutoCAD Electrical and Vault).
