The Special District Group (SDG) is a team in Piper Sandler’s Public Finance practice that is dedicated to raising capital for public infrastructure for new development or redevelopment projects. About This Role
We are currently looking for an Assistant Vice President or Vice President to work within our banking team in Houston or Dallas, Texas.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; possesses the ability to navigate multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with strong organizational skills; and displays a professional demeanor to interact with senior partners, clients, and colleagues. The ideal candidate is a great communicator with a strong work ethic who is interested in a meaningful role on a supportive team. The responsibilities of this role include:
Contribute in significant ways to the strategic growth of the business and perform business development activities
Build and maintain relationships with industry consultants, developers and other external partners and stakeholders
Play an active role in elevating the industry
Lead banking transactions from launch to close, including:
Conduct relationship management meetings and other activities with existing PSC clients and consultants
Pre-qualify customers with regard to their financial status or objectives in connection with investment banking opportunities
Assess client goals, provide options and facilitate decisions on structure and timing
Ensure regular and highly effective communication is maintained throughout the transaction lifecycle
Serve as subject matter expert to clients and other SDG team members across debt credit frameworks for refinancing and other less complex transactions in an established local market
Participate in high impact HR efforts and contribute in significant ways to team culture
Produce, update and present Business Development materials
Conduct market research to identify new real estate projects occurring across the state of Texas
Attend industry networking events, conferences, and other industry specific events
Prepare and maintain various marketing materials, including presentations, pitchbooks, research summaries, and market updates
Build and maintain relationships with industry consultants, developers, and other external partners
Consistently modeling SDG’s organizational values and contributing to team culture.

You have the following qualifications and experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
At least 6-10 years of relevant experience in land development/homebuilding, or finance.
Proficient in use of digital software and technology, including databases, and MS Office suite.
You are available to work full-time in-person in our Dallas or Houston offices.
You are based in, or willing to relocate to Dallas or Houston.

The anticipated salary for Texas-based individuals expressing interest in this position is $125,000 – $150,000 per year; this position is eligible for substantial annual incentive compensation. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience, title, and other factors.
