We are currently looking for a Public Finance Investment Banking Analyst or Associate to join our Transportation Group in New York, NY or Minneapolis, MN.

About the Role

Our analyst position offers a unique opportunity for ambitious professionals seeking to play a meaningful role in connecting capital with opportunity to finance projects for not-for-profits, governments, and developers who are engaged in building the country's infrastructure.  Analysts prepare bond sizing cash flows and debt profiles to analyze and structure debt, presentations, proposals, and a variety of ad hoc collateral material. The Transportation Group is dedicated to raising capital for transportation projects nationally across all modes including highways, toll roads, airports, seaports and mass transit.   Analysts should be prepared for direct interaction with senior bankers and clients in a highly competitive, rewarding, team oriented environment to execute successful financings

Responsibilities:

  • Developing financial models to structure and optimize transactions
  • Preparing analyses on client capital structure, debt capacity, refinancing opportunities and credit profile
  • Preparing presentations for financing proposals and new business development
  • Interacting with internal and external financing team members in developing, executing and closing of a transaction, including review of all materials for accuracy
  • Drafting responses to request for proposals 
  • Developing transportation sector materials focused on recent transaction trends, new developments, legislation and best practices nationally across each transportation mode
  • Attend client meetings, calls and presentations, taking detailed notes
     

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. with major(s) in business, economics, finance, public administration or related fields is preferred
  • Successful candidates will be highly self-motivated, curious and willing to work long hours when needed
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills are a must and good understanding of financial markets is expected
  • Well organized, attention to detail and able to manage multiple projects under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced user of Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience in using DBC Finance and Bloomberg is preferred
  • Strong communication and professional presence with clients required
  • Experience of 1 to 3 years working (or an internship) in a related field such as banking, accounting or finance is a plus
  • Previous experience in public finance with nonprofits or with public agencies is a strong positive
  • You are based in, or willing to relocate to New York or Minneapolis.

The anticipated starting salary range for Minnesota or New York - based individuals expressing interest in this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience, location and other factors. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be part of the total compensation. Total compensation for this position will be competitive with the market.
