Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Specialist

Location: Lealman Exchange 5175 45th Street North St. Petersburg, 33714

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, occasional evenings and weekends for special meetings and events

Are you passionate about community revitalization and eager to make a tangible impact? Join us as a Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) Specialist for the Lealman CRA, where you’ll play a crucial role in transforming our community. As part of our dynamic team, you’ll work under the guidance of the Assistant to the County Administration, driving our mission to revitalize the Lealman area in Pinellas County, Florida.

This is complex technical, administrative and paraprofessional work implementing community development programs and activities. 

What Would You Do?

  • Grant Program Coordination:
    • Manage the Residential and Commercial Improvement Grant Programs, from preparing documentation and securing approvals to conducting inspections and processing payment requests.
    • Regularly engage with applicants and contractors to ensure project success and satisfaction.
  • Program Assistance:
    • Assist in the administration of other specific CRA programs, tracking status, managing vendor payments and inspecting work to ensure quality.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Lead communication efforts for the CRA Team by creating compelling content to publish and market information to the public to include serving as the webmaster of the CRA webpage.
    • Assist with the creation of the CRA Advisory Committee agendas and meeting logistics, including compiling minutes and ensuring smooth meeting operations.
  • Research, Analysis and Reporting:
    • Track CRA budget and expenditures, coordinate purchasing activities, including tracking and issuing purchase orders and performing purchasing card reconciliations.
    • Be able to perform data and program analysis, conduct research and assist in all required CRA reporting.
  • Professional Development:
    • Continuously familiarize yourself with CRA legal requirements, CRA strategies, and County processes through self-study and professional development opportunities.

What Are We Looking for?

  • Detail-Oriented: Excellent at managing the details and documentation, tracking budgets, and working with data.
  • Tech Savvy:  Skilled in Microsoft products and the ability to become proficient with software used by the County and web management.
  • Proactive and Supportive: A go-getter who can assist in all required reporting and contribute to various projects and events as needed.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least 2 years professional experience in community redevelopment, grant administration, real estate finance, construction management or community development work as describe or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience

  •    Florida Driver's License or Florida Commercial Driver’s License and endorsement, if any.
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
  • Other highly desirable knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials required for a specific position
