We are currently accepting employment applications for a experienced, safety conscious "Ground Maintenance Equipment Operator". Landscape Services preforms the grounds maintenance activities along the county owned right-of-ways, roadway medians, ponds and sidewalk clearing in excess of 1,075 acres per mowing cycle.
Work schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
What Would You Do?
Operates zero-turn lawn mowers, line trimmers, edger's, blowers, tractors, skid loaders, wood chippers, truck and trailer and other related vegetation management equipment.
Performs manual labor and will utilize hand tools to supplement equipment operations at times.
Performs removal of non-purposeful or invasive vegetation within public right-of-ways, medians, sidewalk clearing or other County owned properties through manual labor or equipment at times.
Performs daily maintenance inspections, lubrication/grease, sharpen mower blades daily and other minor maintenance work on equipment.
Communicates with the Field Operations Supervisor to determine work priorities and resolve work problems.
Picks up and hauls debris as assigned.
Communicates from a computer, cell phone, and written reports.
Provides labor or equipment operation assistance to Urban Forestry as needed for right-of-way tree maintenance or unwanted vegetation removal activities..
What Do You Need To Have?
Highly Desirable
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and use of dump and flatbed trucks, tractors, and related public works equipment;
Knowledge of the operation and repair of small to medium equipment;
Knowledge of component parts, operating principles, and maintenance needs of medium to heavy equipment;
Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions in the operation of medium to heavy equipment;
Skill in the operation of medium to heavy automotive, maintenance, and construction equipment;
Ability to make emergency repairs to motor driven equipment;
Ability to work under adverse weather conditions and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to operate medium sized equipment and perform manual labor.
