Your Purpose in This Role
As a County Budget Analyst, you are a trusted advisor and strategic partner. You will work at the intersection of data, policy, and community need — guiding departments through the annual budget process, analyzing program performance, and helping County leadership allocate resources in ways that maximize public value.
You will help answer questions like:
- How do we stretch public dollars to meet growing community needs?
- Which services provide the best outcomes for residents?
- What can we learn from data to make smarter decisions?
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with departments to build budgets that align with strategic priorities.
- Analyze operational and financial data to assess efficiency, performance, and outcomes.
- Provide recommendations to County leadership that improve service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor revenues and expenditures throughout the fiscal year, flagging risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to budget publications and presentations that tell a clear story of how taxpayer dollars are used.
- Support special projects and long-range financial planning efforts that shape the future of the County.
What We’re Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance, public administration, or related field and two (2) - three (3) years experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial management in a large highly computer automated organization; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- A degree in public administration, finance, economics, or a related field.
- A passion for public service and community impact.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills — you can explain complex topics clearly to any audience.
- The ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Experience in budgeting, performance management, or policy analysis is a plus.
